A float switch is a water level sensor that is located in the sump. It rises and falls with the water level.
An evap is the cold plate or grid where ice forms. Refrigerant flows through it removing the heat from the water which then freezes and ice builds into cubes.
Typical Operation cycle:
1) Machine fills with water
2) Float rises which signals proper level
3) Pump start and water flows over evap
4) Ice forms on evap surface
5) Water level drops slightly where the float may trigger to refill
6) Cycle continues until harvest phase.
